Rome, November 9-10: the uprising continues, in movement to take back it all!

Original statement in Italian here

The two days of movement assemblies held in Rome at the University “La Sapienza” and at the squatted house in Via delle Province shared an extremely positive evaluation about the power of the movement expressed around and into the week of mobilization that led to 19o, even in the awareness of being just at the beginning of a process of conflict and transformation of the current reality.

Particularly, some central elements in the constructive process had been stressed and must continue to characterize the next developments: to build, within horizontal and plural practices of debate and sharing – without mini-parliaments in the movement and bureaucratic promoting committees – the absolute refusal of the frameworks of institutional representation and delegation, as well as the end of any mediation, that are the basic points of the process opened from the 19o day of mobilization.

In this way the movement puts itself into a perspective of development of paths of self-organization able to keep always the level of needs on par with that of dreams and of politics, that of a radical transformation of reality, inside an autonomous perspective of development of the conflict and, within it, the construction of an alternative. The idea of bringing forward the social movements, not only as antagonist spaces, but also of protagonism outside and against the institutional and state frameworks, came out strenghtened by everything made until now.

Moreover, the self-determined and mestizo composition that expressed itself during the 19o, shows how it can exceed and spill over, by suggesting the possibility of processes of wide social recomposition and to go far beyond the simple cumulation of existing movements and struggles, actually opening up a new space of movement accesible and available to the different figures and subjectivities of the metropolitan precariat. To bring forward the territories and the real practices of conflict and reappropriation, as happened in the weeks and months before 19o, and has been kept developing as siege and permanent uprising until the latest October 31 day.

That’s the reason why is deemed to be important to develop forms of widespread and mass illegality as a refusal of a crisis that, under the blackmail of debt, they would make us pay through wicked austerity politics, establishing the methodical dismantling and lowering of social rights standards. A crisis of the Capital that is simply a tool of oppression by the neoliberalist politics on our lifes and our territories. A widespread and mass illegality as a sabotage of the capitalist frameworks and at the same time as a mean of reappropriation of life and income. The rage that is spreading in the squares is an integral part and a motor for the processes of conflict and transformation being carried on. There are neither good nor bad people, but only protagonists of a common roadmap of conflict, as it was on October 15, 2011. We cannot accept that a few people should pay for what we are all striving to build.

Therefore, from the discussion emerges the necessity to define a challenge to allow us to to go on and to increase the uprising and the permanent siege, but also to establish the central contents of a new collective adventure having an extensive range and perspective, and being able to deploy ever sharper and stronger forms of entrenchment and counterpower.
The next steps of siege and uprising are actually already up for discussion:

The student national mobilization scheduled for the next November 15 and December 6. The day of national widespread mobilization on the territories for November 16 on the issues of refusal of great unnecessary works and nocività* and about the liberation of social spaces.

The siege planned for the next November 20 during the Italian-French Summit, that must be organized by bringing forward, besides the theme of territorial sovereignty, the question of the resources still addressed to banks and great unnecessary works and that on the contrary we have to take back to give an answer to these social sectors that are paying the capitalist crisis: housing rights, income, health, right to education, etc…

The days of November 29 and 30, with widespread mobilizations in every city on the housing issues (a general halt of evictions, an emergency plan for people’s housing, a battle against the sale of public properties, an assault on state land administration and unsold properties). And the next step on a nationwide scale of the boycott campaign on Granarolo dairy corporation against which the loaders of Bologna and the whole logistics workers’ movement have been struggling for months, which already bodes further dates of strike also on other enterprises of this sector.

Within and beyond these shared dates, according to the reasonings stated before, it is necessary to take care of the common roadmap also through moments of thematic debate and development of new conflicts. The first occasion will be the assembly scheduled for November 21 at the refugees’ squathouse in Piazza Indipendenza in Rome, concerning the issue of freedom of circulation and movement. This step will be followed by other moments of debate on struggles, practices and subjectivities.

Moreover, to enhance and empower the territories, there is the proposal for a month of struggle in December against the high cost of living and precarity to test – starting out from the different subjectivities of metropolitan precarity – new kinds of conflict, daily practices of reappropriation (health tickets, bills, etc.); primarily by strenghtening those struggles and practices that allow to reappropriate income and to liberate spaces and living time, sharing the day of mobilization against holiday jobs in commercial centers, promoted for December 8 on a national scale by the antagonist trade unionism. This outlined path also throws itself towards the hypotesis of new collective and generalized mobilizations in the Spring, and new uprisings too.

Crisi ecologica, crisi capitalista, crisi dell’ecologismo politico – Parte prima

A prima […]
