At about 7am, as small groups of blacklegs were trying to access the warehouses escorted by their gangers, a squad of a tensome drivers and blacklegs, headed by a SDA supervisor and an owner, attacked the picked with extensible batons, bottles and helmets.

The two cars of the police flying squad, that were already on site since the earlier hours of the morning, stood impassive. The attack, that was noticeably premeditated, took by surprise the picket, still extremely crowded and determined to resist, causing severe injuries to 4 porters – which were rushed to the hospital – and some lesions for many supporters which ran at their side.

The reaction of the picket, that immediately came back together, was a ready and firm one – with a few minutes’ confrontation that still left marked the vile gang, forcing it to flee. Meanwhile two riot police wagons arrived on site, readily coming between the two blocks, and thus facilitating the cowardly retreat.

The blockade of the goods was therefore interrupted after more than two hours of resistance, still inflicting huge losses and delays to the company.

The struggle of the SDA porters and in the whole sector of the Italian logistics’ industry does not stop, and will not be intimidated by these cowardly attacks! The struggle will continue in a strong and resolute way, until all the Bolognese porters will be reinstated.

Solidarity is a weapon, and an injury to one is an injury to all!

*A huge courier company owned by Poste Italiane, the national postal service on its way to be privatised by the Renzi Government. In order to achieve this goal, it is undergoing a reorganization process that  envisages massive layoffs and further exploitation at the hands of  bogus “cooperatives.” This plan is firmly opposed by grassroots Si Cobas union workers (that organized the picket described in the article) and their supporters from the autonomous movement.
