Milan: warehouse workers against Jobs Act and Loi Travail
It is not by any chance that the need of connecting with the French mobilizations is felt with greater urgency in the field of the logistics struggles: on one hand the migrant workforce looks to a transnational perspective in order to acquire strength, on the other hand the recent cycles of strike featured the answer against the efforts of introducing in the warehouses the measures provided for by the Jobs Act itself. A law which is similar for many aspects to the French Loi Travail: one for all, the tender changes with layoffs and bogus re-hirings in order to benefit from tax breaks.
The march, which was participated by some three hundred of people, encountered a police blockade since Piazza Repubblica at the access of Via
Turati, where the French consulate – the target of the march – stands. After circumventing the first blockade passing through Via Manin and Via
della Moscova, the marchers found themselves at the back of the consulate again, in Piazza Stati Uniti d’America. Here an effort to break through
the fences at the Via Turati entrance aroused a nervous reaction by the digos political police. The march moved on, and then ended in Piazza Cordusio.
