Thousands in Rome stand on the Kurdish people side
The march started late, around 15:30, because of the controls and the searches made by the Roman police department on the many buses that came from all over Italy. A police department that does not misses the chance of hindrancing the mobilizations’ progress, as it happened on Friday 23 to the citizens of Bagnoli which came in Rome in order to demonstrate.
In the demonstration, which was participated by associations, collectives, social centres and movements from a great deal of Italian cities, there were many YPG/YPJ flags, as well as many ones depicting Abdullah Öcalan who has been imprisoned since 1999 – being the leader of the PKK.
The Rome city centre and the streets alongside the cortege were guarded by a massive police deployment, particularly committed in defending the Turkish embassy, often already wearing antiriot gear and close to the march.
The rally ended with speeches from the many organizations which participated in the demonstration.
