Piazza della Loggia in Brescia: a fascist massacre
After 43 years the definitive life sentence for neofascists Carlo Maria Maggi and Maurizio Tramonte came, being them culprits for the massacre in which 8 people died and 102 were wounded on May 28, 1974, in piazza della Loggia, Brescia, during a demonstration against fascist violence.
The verdict acknowledges the “political source” of the massacre, tracking it back to “subversive right-wing” contexts; whose connections with parts of renegade state apparata, complicit with such neofascist organizations like Ordine Nuovo (of which Maggi was a militant) were confirmed. Tramonte appears as the “Tritone” source in the secret services’ archives. Other accomplices of the two terrorists, the fascists Delfo Zorzi, Pino Rauti and Francesco Delfino, were acquitted in an early branch of the trial. It took 43 years in order to shine a light on an event whose responsibilities were clear and written in the history of connivance between parts of democratic state and fascist terrorism. Meanwhile the fascist Tramonte, who had been unreacheable for several days, was arrested on wednesday morning in Portugal, where he tried to avoid capture.
